Brick breaker looks like a game of reflexes, and at first it plays like one - you slide a paddle left and right and pray the ball comes back. But the players who clear level after level are not faster than you; they are steering. The paddle is not just a wall to bounce off, it is a tiny joystick that decides where the ball goes next. Once you understand that one idea, everything else - tunnelling, power-ups, control - falls into place. The one rule that changes everything: you aim the ball
Here is the secret that brick breaker never tells you outright. When the ball lands on your paddle, the spot where it touches decides the angle it leaves at. Catch it dead in the centre and it shoots almost straight up. Catch it near an edge and it ricochets off at a sharp angle, flying out to the side. The ball does not simply mirror the way it came in - your paddle position rewrites its direction every single time it touches.

The honest rule is simple: never abandon a ball you are about to catch in order to sprint after a falling capsule. A dropped ball costs you a life; a missed power-up costs you nothing but a few seconds. If a capsule is drifting down miles from where the ball is, let it go. The good players collect power-ups that happen to fall into their lane, not the ones that drag them into danger. Remember too that a fresh level wipes your active power-ups, so spend a strong combination while you have it rather than hoarding it.
Small moves, not big swings
The most common beginner habit is swinging the paddle from one side of the screen to the other every time the ball moves. It feels responsive, but it constantly puts you out of position, and a big late lunge is how most balls slip past the edge. Control comes from doing less.
Watch the ball's angle as it comes down and slide your paddle just far enough to meet it - small, early adjustments, not frantic dashes. - Use centre hits to settle whenever the ball gets fast or chaotic, then return to aiming.
- Finish the stragglers with deliberate edge shots into the corners, moving in small, early steps right to the last brick.
