Hold to winch a platform of mochi passengers up a tall candy shaft - gently, because every lurch makes it sway and a wide sway tips somebody off.
Mochi Lift is a one-hold game about being smooth. A platform hangs on a rope in a tall shaft with a row of mochi passengers sitting on it. Hold anywhere on the screen and the winch pulls the lift up; let go and the brake stops it. The lift never falls, so it waits wherever you leave it for as long as you like.
The catch is the sway. The platform hangs, so every jolt sets it swinging: a sudden start, a hard stop, a bumped beam, a puff of steam. The bubble level under the platform shows how wide the swing has grown, and if it goes too far the passenger sitting furthest out on that side slips off. Going up is a single button - going up smoothly is the game.
The 20 hand-tuned levels add one thing at a time. Beams slide across the shaft and block the lift completely (level 4), so you have to stop - and stopping is what causes sway, which makes stopping early the real skill. Pendulums swing across the shaft and clout the platform if you're in the way (level 7). Steam vents blow sideways and push the sway directly (level 11). And slack stretches of rope make the winch bite nearly twice as hard (level 15), so the same hold accelerates far more than you expect.
Every level names how many passengers must still be aboard when you reach the top floor, so losing one is a setback rather than a disaster. Nothing is timed and the lift cannot fall, so a level can never become unwinnable - if too many slip off you simply ride the same shaft again. Clear all 20 and Endless mode opens: taller shafts with denser furniture and every mechanic live from the very first endless shaft, seeded by the level number. Finishing any level always lights up all three stars.

Mochi Lift has exactly one control and it does exactly one thing: hold to go up. There is no steering, no aiming, no second button, and the lift can never fall - let go and the brake simply holds it wherever it is, forever. On paper that sounds like a game with no game in it. What makes it work is that the platform is hanging on a rope, and everything you do travels down that rope into the passengers sitting on it. Slam the winch on and the platform lurches and starts swinging. Slam it off and it swings the other way. The mochi hang on as best they can, and if the swing gets wide enough, the one on the outside edge slips off.
So the skill being trained isn't reaction or timing in the usual sense - it's gentleness, which very few games ask for. A good ride looks almost boring: you ease the hold on, let it settle, ride steadily, ease off well before the obstacle, wait for the swing to die down, then go again. A bad ride is a series of stabs at the screen that turns the platform into a pendulum. There's a little bubble level under the platform that shows how far the sway has gone - green, amber, red - and learning to keep that bubble in the middle is the whole game.
The furniture is designed to tempt you into being ungentle. A beam slides across the shaft and physically blocks the lift, so it forces a stop - and stopping is exactly what causes sway, which means the real skill is stopping early and gliding to it rather than braking under it. Nothing is timed and the lift cannot fall, so there is no failure that comes at you - only the failure you cause. You don't have to deliver everybody either: each level names how many passengers must still be aboard at the top, so losing one is a setback rather than a restart. That combination - a single button, no falling, no clock, and a target that tolerates mistakes - is what makes a game about being careful feel relaxing rather than tense.
No, never. The winch and brake hold it wherever you leave it, indefinitely. That's deliberate: the only thing that can go wrong in this game is the sway, so there's no falling to panic about.
Because the platform swayed too far. The bubble level under the platform shows how wide the swing is; when it hits the end, the mochi sitting furthest out on that side loses its grip. Sway comes from sudden changes - grabbing the winch, releasing it hard, bumping a beam or crossing a steam vent.
Wait. The sway is a damped swing, so it settles by itself, and waiting costs nothing because there's no timer. Then start moving again gently rather than all at once.
No. Each level says how many must still be aboard at the top - the counter at the top of the screen shows aboard versus needed. Losing one or two is usually fine; the level only fails if you drop below the target.

Beams slide back and forth across the shaft. Stop a little way below one, wait for it to slide aside, then go. Nudging into it clangs the platform and sets it swinging, which is the real cost of impatience.
